All I am getting on the x86 CD is a readme file that tells me my operating system can not read the CD. The operating system is Windows XP home.... I can see the files on the x64 CD. I dont need the x64 version though. anyone know what is the problem?

x86 CD not working
The downloaded image is a UDF DVD, and is not a CD. To burn it to disk, you have to open it with a burning program (ie. Nero or similar) and you want to burn it as an image or disk image. If you extract the files from the disk, you won't have a bootable disk if you burn it as data. There also are not many programs that can properly open the image for extraction anyway. ---------- Mark Dietz PROnetworks <http://www.pro-networks.org>

Sorry, I am still not used to calling a DVD a DVD yet. The x86 DVD is what I got from Microsoft. I did not download the install files from teh internet. The disk that microsoft makes for Vista is evidently not compatible with all DVD drives. It would not work on the laptop I was using. I used the a DVD drive from my house and the disk worked fine. Also I found another suggestion to download a "daemon" program to rebuild the disk and that fixed the issue with the laptop drive.

You cannot start a 64bit setup from a 32bit operating system. If you search more about this you will find more info about it. -- AMD-FX-60 2gb OCZ Plat. memory ATI 1800 AIW 2x74gb Raptors in RAID-0 2x400gb WD HDD in RAID-1 Epox Nvidia-4 Ultra M/B Senior Member Overclockers.com
